VIN UNLOCK CODE OVERVIEW

If you are in a situation where your truck was written off, or for whatever reason you don't have the ability to put your tuner back to stock and your tuner remains VIN locked, then it's essentially useless at this stage. Purchasing this unlock code will allow you to reset your unit back to a factory unlocked state and remove the VIN lock, which will allow you to install the tuner onto another vehicle without having to purchase a new device.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The way this works is via a challenge/response-type code system. Your tuner will display a root code (the challenge). This is the code that you enter into the order form. The tuner will then display a box for you to enter in the unlock code (the response). Once you complete the order and payment is processed, a code is generated and sent to you instantly via e-mail. This is the code that you will enter into the response box on the tuner. We'll get to this shortly.

IMPORTANT NOTES BEFORE WE START (Please read!!):

  • Unlock codes are one-time use only. Do not power the unit down or exit out of the root code screen for any reason once you have submitted your order because the root code changes each time that menu is accessed, and your unlock code will be no good. 
  • VIN unlock codes are NCNR (Non-Cancellable/NON-REFUNDABLE) once orders have been submitted and payment has been processed.
  • THE VIN UNLOCK RESETS THE TUNER TO FACTORY DEFAULTS. IF YOU HAVE OTHER OPTIONS THAT WERE PREVIOUSLY UNLOCKED (SUCH AS HIGH SULFUR/EMISSIONS DELETE PROGRAMMING ON STREET TUNERS, IN MOTION, ETC), THEN THESE FEATURES WILL BE SET BACK TO FACTORY STATUS AND THE ORIGINAL UNLOCK CODES WILL HAVE TO BE RE-ENTERED.

HOW TO RETREIVE THE ROOT CODE

To begin the vin unlock code process, we’ll need the root (challenge) code, which is generated by your tuner.

  1. Power up your device (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to power it via USB source (such as a laptop, or really anything that has a USB port on it) rather than directly to the truck via the OBD-II interface.
  2. Press the TOP LEFT button to open the main menu.
  3. Scroll down until you see the SHOW SETTINGS sub-menu, and then press the corresponding menu button to select it.
  4. Hold down the BOTTOM LEFT BUTTON until the unit beeps - this may take up to 20 seconds. After it beeps, release the button and it will bring up a 4 digit code at the top of the screen. This is your Root Code. Note: Your root code is NOT 1111. It is the next set of four numbers displayed on the screen.
  5. Enter this code into the order form on this page, as well as the type of vehicle that the tuner is CURRENTLY LOCKED TO (in other words, the type of vehicle that is listed in the Show Settings screen - see sample image). 
  6. That's it for now - Further instructions to complete the process will be emailed with your unlock code.

I messed up my unlock

Picked up a minimaxx that was locked to another truck and I have to admit I was sceptical hearing h and s was out of buisness, aswell as providing payment info. Well me being curious and computer illiterate I go for it and after my instant code was provided me not following the proper steps I panic and hit back well my tuner doesn’t unlock payment goes threw I’m ready to smash my phone because of course that would happen. I send h and s an email stating what happened at 1030 pm on a Saturday night and almost instantly a fella named craig reply’s with a receipt of a payment refund to my account, and fills me in on what to do and informs me that if there’s anymore confusion to let him know! At 1030pm on a Saturday! So I follow the simple steps that are stated one more time and my tuner is unlocked without a glitch. 11/10 customer care service, Wish I could buy Craig a beer because he deserves one!!!!

Needed to transfer my H&S from my old truck to my new one so I did as the instructions said. I had the alphanumeric code and had to unplug and replug my tuner back in only 4 times to get the G131 code. I then made my purchase and was given the code to put in my tuner and it immediately unlocked it. Couldn't be simpler!

The unlock code worked perfectly and the entire process was quick and easy.  You will have to find and enter the root code from your tuner, but the process is explained in good detail, which makes everything easy.  Once I selected the appropriate items from the drop down lists, entered the root code, and paid, I received the unlock code immediately, even early on a Sunday morning.  I didn't have to wait for an email or any kind of verification.  I am quite pleased.

I recently had a truck struck by lightining, the insurance totaled it and I was stuck with a brick for a tuner.  I found HSunlockcodes and gave it a shot and within minutes I had an unlocked tuner.

Great Product and Incredibly Easy Process

The unlock code worked perfectly and the entire process was quick and easy.  You will have to find and enter the root code from your tuner, but the process is explained in good detail, which makes everything easy.  Once I selected the appropriate items from the drop down lists, entered the root code, and paid, I received the unlock code immediately, even early on a Sunday morning.  I didn't have to wait for an email or any kind of verification.  I am quite pleased.

The entire process was super easy and explained in good detail.  The code worked perfectly.  I didn't have to wait for an email or any other verification.  As soon as my order was complete, the unlock code popped up on the next screen.  I'm quite pleased.

Hesitant for no reason

I was very hesitant to purchase the unlock code because if it didn't work i was out $50. I tried it anyway and it sure worked. I will now unlock the other tuners I have with no hesitation. Thanks guys!

Bought a used hs minimax that was locked to a ford. Had to hook to computer to get menu button to function   Purchased unlock code and instantly received code. Instructions provided walked me through unlocking and hooking to my truck (6.7 Cummins 07.5 dodge) Completed in 30 minutes total. I was skeptical at first but couldn’t be happier with the process
